Power Vinyl 3

Listening notes

Power Vinyl 3 is a four-track compilation released by Bonzai Records in 1995, catalogued under BR 95077. The release sits within the electronic, hard trance, and techno genres that defined much of Bonzai's output during that period.

The record is divided across two sides. Side A opens with "Wayfarer (Mayday Mix)" at four minutes and fifty-seven seconds, followed by "Cinderella (Original Mix)" at five minutes and four seconds. Side B carries the longer "Organic (Love Mix)" at seven minutes and forty-one seconds, with "Destruction (Olympia Mix)" closing the record at four minutes and fifty-nine seconds. The mix designations — Mayday, Original, Love, and Olympia — indicate that these tracks exist in variant forms, though the specific nature of those differences is not documented here.

Power Vinyl 3 is the third entry in what the title implies is a series, suggesting Bonzai used the Power Vinyl name as a recurring compilation format during this era. Bonzai Records, operating out of Belgium, was an active presence in the mid-1990s European electronic music market, and releases bearing the label's name from this period reflect the harder, driving styles that were circulating through that scene at the time.

At roughly twenty-three minutes of total playing time across four tracks, the release is relatively concise by compilation standards. The track lengths range from just under five minutes to nearly eight, which is broadly consistent with dance-oriented electronic music intended for club or DJ use, though no specific intended use is confirmed by the available data.
