Retro Arena (The Vinyl Collection)

Listening notes

Released in 2023 on the N.E.W.S. label, Retro Arena (The Vinyl Collection) is a box set compiled under the catalog number 5411086. Spread across ten sides of vinyl — labeled A through J — the release brings together twenty-two tracks drawn from across the electronic music spectrum, with genres listed including trance, hard trance, progressive trance, progressive house, house, techno, hardcore, and electronic more broadly.

The track lengths are generous throughout. Several cuts run past the eight-minute mark, among them "Meet Her At The Love Parade" at 9:34, "Sunstroke" at 9:46, and "The Day (DJ LB Efficient Mix)" at 8:52. The box set's ten sides accommodate this, with the final side, F, carrying three tracks to balance the running time, and side J similarly closing with three. The remaining sides each hold two tracks.

A handful of titles arrive in named versions: "Techno Cat" is presented in its Dance Like Your Dad Mix, "Hale Bopp" in the Raumgleiter Version, "Innocence" as a Club Mix, "The Wall" in a Dub Wall Dub Mix, and "Play With The Voice In Germany" as a Paul van Dyk Remix. "The Day" is attributed to a DJ LB Efficient Mix. These designations suggest the compilation draws on specific edits and remixes rather than presenting uniform original versions throughout.

The title and genre range both point toward a retrospective intent, though the release year of 2023 is the only date verifiable from the available information. No track-level artist credits, label notes, or additional contextual detail are confirmed here, and this draft should be reviewed against original liner materials before publication.
