Save The Vinyl - History

Listening notes

Save The Vinyl – History is a two-disc CD compilation released in 1998 on the Save The Vinyl label, carrying catalog number 74321 574 872. The release is catalogued under the genres of Electronic, Progressive Trance, Techno, and Trance, placing it within the broader landscape of European dance music production that was active during that period.

The set spans twenty-four tracks across its two discs. Disc one opens with "Dream Frequencies" at six minutes and forty-nine seconds and closes with "Everybody Feel Free" at six minutes and fifty-seven seconds, with a total of twelve tracks running to approximately eighty-two minutes of music. Disc two also contains twelve tracks, beginning with "Arise (Arise Mix)" at eight minutes and thirty-one seconds — the longest individual track on the compilation — and concluding with "Cruising (Groovy Midnight Mix)" at five minutes and thirty-three seconds.

Several of the titles suggest remixed or alternate versions of existing material, including "Sleeping With An Angel (Euro Mix)," "Un Altro Mondo (Altro Underworld Mix)," "It's Inside My Soul (I Know What I Wanna Find) / (Sonoma Mix)," "My Dream (Dream Mix)," "Club Stomp (Stomp Mix)," "Bassphreak (Original Phreak Mix)," and others, indicating that the compilation drew at least in part from remix productions rather than exclusively original recordings. The track lengths across both discs are predominantly in the six-to-eight minute range, consistent with extended dance floor edits of the era.

The catalog number format beginning with 74321 is associated with BMG distribution, though the specific nature of any distribution arrangement for this release would require independent verification. This is an unreviewed draft and should be checked against primary sources before publication.
