Six Stage Phaser: Vinyl Communications Electronica Compilation Volume One

Listening notes

Six Stage Phaser: Vinyl Communications Electronica Compilation Volume One is a CD release on the Vinyl Communications label, issued under catalog number VC-108. The release falls under the electronic and experimental genres and collects six tracks from various artists.

The compilation runs a substantial total runtime, with several of its six tracks extending well past the ten-minute mark. The opening track, "4th Level Dwarf Fighter (-5 Cursed Back Biter Mix) / Phage," clocks in at 13:02, establishing an extended-form approach that recurs throughout the release. The third track, listed simply as "Untitled," is the longest at 15:54, followed closely by "Lost In The Vortex" at 15:01 and "You're So Cool" at 13:05. Shorter entries include "Spacegerm" at 2:44 and "Chicago" at 6:48, providing some variation in scale across the six selections.

The title's reference to a phaser — a modulation effect associated with electronic music production — aligns with the compilation's stated genre designations, though no additional production or personnel details are available from verified sources. The catalog number VC-108 places it within the Vinyl Communications catalog, a San Diego-based independent label known for releasing punk, hardcore, and experimental material, though no release year has been confirmed for this specific title.

As the subtitle indicates this is Volume One of an electronica series from the label, the implication is that additional volumes were planned or released, though no further details about the series are available here for confirmation.

This draft is unreviewed and should be verified against primary sources before publication, particularly regarding release year, contributing artists, and series continuation.
