Slammin' Vinyl - The Album

Listening notes

Slammin' Vinyl – The Album is a 1995 cassette compilation released on Rumour Records under catalog number ZCRAID 523. Spanning twelve tracks across two sides, it draws together material from the intersecting worlds of breakbeat, electronic, happy hardcore, and hardcore, genres that were finding distinct identities and overlapping audiences in the mid-nineties UK dance scene.

Side A opens with a Sy and Unknown remix of "In Effect" before moving through "Just Wanna Hold U Tight," "Ruff!!!," a DJ Slam remix of "Original Bad Boy," "Ganja Man," and "Ruffer." The presence of named remixers on two of the six A-side tracks suggests the compilation was assembled with some attention to remix culture as a selling point, though no further production or artist credits are available to confirm the full scope of contributors involved.

Side B continues with "Imperial March (Remix)," "Don't Need Your Love," "Let's Do It," "Rushin' On Pink Champagne," "F*ckin' Hardcore," and "Feel So Real (Remix)." Again, remix versions appear on both sides, and the track titles themselves reflect the tonal range the genres encompassed at the time, from euphoric to confrontational.

The Slammin' Vinyl name connects the release to a recognizable brand within the British rave and club circuit of the period, though the nature and extent of that association as expressed through this specific cassette release is not something the available facts allow to be elaborated upon. Duration information is not confirmed for any track.
