Soul On Vinyl - 1

Listening notes

Soul On Vinyl - 1 is a various artists compilation released on vinyl under the catalog number SV11. The release carries no official label affiliation, listed simply as Not On Label, and no release year has been confirmed for this pressing.

The record spans eight tracks across two sides, drawing from the Funk / Soul, Jazz, and Soul genres. Side A opens with "Stop Running Away From Love," followed by "Do You Have The Time," "The Time Is Right For Love," and "You Can't Hide Love." Side B carries "All Night Long," "You Put A Hurtin On Me," "Ain't It Good Feelin Good," and closes with "Funky Day." Track durations are not documented.

As a compilation operating outside the infrastructure of an established label, Soul On Vinyl - 1 represents a category of release where standard documentation — including personnel credits, recording dates, and pressing details — may be incomplete or absent from the historical record. The "1" in the title suggests this may have been conceived as the first in a series, though no further volumes are confirmed here.

The tracklist leans heavily on love and feeling as lyrical themes, at least as suggested by the titles themselves, which is broadly consistent with the soul and funk traditions the release claims as its genre framework. The Jazz designation is noted in the release data, though how prominently that influence figures across the eight tracks cannot be determined from available information.

Collectors and researchers encountering this release should be aware that the absence of a label imprint and an unconfirmed release year may present challenges for dating or attribution. Further documentation, if it exists, would help establish a fuller picture of this record's origins and context.
