The Motown 7s Box (Rare And Unreleased Vinyl • Volume 2)

Listening notes

Released in 2014 on the Tamla Motown label, The Motown 7s Box (Rare And Unreleased Vinyl • Volume 2) is catalogued under the number 535 056-2 and issued as a vinyl box set in an all media format. The set sits within the genres of funk, soul, and pop, consistent with the broader Tamla Motown catalogue from which it draws.

As the title indicates, this is the second volume in the Motown 7s Box series, a fact that positions the release within an ongoing archival project dedicated to surfacing material from the label's vaults in seven-inch format. The emphasis on rare and unreleased vinyl gives the set a documentary character, presenting fourteen tracks spread across sides A through N.

The tracklist runs as follows: "He Who Picks A Rose" (2:45), "If You Ever Get Your Hands On Love" (2:56), "I Want My Baby Back" (2:48), "Take Him Back If It Makes You Happy" (2:29), "We're Gonna Be More Than Friends" (2:34), "You Can Do It" (3:05), "We'll Keep On Rolling" (2:16), "Angel Doll" (2:31), "My Love For You" (3:00), "I'm Grateful" (2:34), "Sure Is A Lotta Woman" (3:00), "I Know Better" (2:31), "That's A Funny Way" (2:48), and "Don't Stop Now" (3:24).

The individual track durations are notably compact, with the majority running under three minutes and only "Don't Stop Now" extending beyond that mark at three minutes and twenty-four seconds. This is broadly in keeping with the single format the box set emulates. No artist attributions per track are confirmed in the available data, and this draft does not assign individual performers to specific sides. Researchers and collectors seeking personnel details should consult the physical release documentation directly.

This entry is an unreviewed draft and should be verified against the physical release before publication.
