The Motown 7s Box (Rare And Unreleased Vinyl • Volume 4)

Listening notes

Released in 2017 under the Tamla Motown label, The Motown 7s Box (Rare And Unreleased Vinyl • Volume 4) carries catalog number 537 482-5 and arrives as a vinyl box set. It is the fourth installment in an ongoing series dedicated to surfacing material from the Motown catalog in seven-inch format.

The set spans fourteen tracks, each occupying its own side designation running sequentially from A through N. The titles themselves read as a representative cross-section of the soul and funk idiom the label built its reputation around: "Baby A Go-Go," "Share A Little Love With Me (Somebody)," "That World I Lived In," "Since You Came Back," "Can't Hold The Feeling Back," "Tell Me How To Forget A True Love," "Don't Stop Loving Me," "Sometimes I Have To Cry," "Don't Be Afraid," "I Ain't Going Nowhere," "Ain't You Glad You Chose Love," "Baby Come Home To Me," "Sweet Thing," and "Give In, You Just Can't Win." The series framing positions these as rare and unreleased material, though the specific history of each individual track is not detailed in the available documentation.

The release is credited to Various Artists, consistent with a compilation drawing from across the label's roster. Genres are listed as Funk / Soul, Pop, and Soul, which aligns with the broad stylistic range Tamla Motown encompassed during its most active decades.

As the fourth volume in the series, this box set implies a sustained archival effort on the part of the label. Collectors drawn to the Motown catalog and specifically to seven-inch vinyl will find this a documented entry point. No pressing details, personnel credits, or track durations are confirmed in the available data, and those fields should be verified before publication.
