The Motown 7s Box - Rare And Unreleased Vinyl

Listening notes

Released in 2013 on the Tamla Motown label, The Motown 7s Box — Rare And Unreleased Vinyl (catalog number 534 542-5) is a vinyl box set collecting seven seven-inch singles under the genres of soul, funk, and rhythm and blues. The set brings together fourteen tracks across its seven discs, each pressed as a conventional A/B single with individual catalog numbers running from 534 542-6 through 534 543-2.

The track listing gives some sense of the box set's scope. Single One pairs "This Love Starved Heart Of Mine (It's Killing Me)" with "What More Could A Boy Ask For." Single Two carries "Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)" on the A-side and "Suspicion" on the B-side. Single Three presents "Stormy" backed with "Just Enough To Ease The Pain," while Single Four offers "Clip My Wings" and "All I Do Is Think About You." Single Five brings "It Happens Every Time" and "I Can't Be Hurt Anymore," and Single Six pairs "Forever In My Heart" with "You Hit Me Where It Hurt Me." The set closes with Single Seven, which places "Something's Wrong" on the A-side and "My Love Is Your Love (Forever)" on the B-side.

The title's use of the phrase "rare and unreleased" signals the stated intent of the compilation, though the verified data does not specify which tracks fall into which category, nor does it identify the individual artists behind each title. Those details would be worth confirming before publication.

What the facts do establish is a release that chose the seven-inch format deliberately, packaging it as a collectible box set rather than a straightforward reissue album. Whether that choice reflects a specific editorial or archival vision behind the project is not something the available information can confirm. A fact checker should verify artist attributions, any track-level release histories, and the precise meaning of "unreleased" as applied here.
