Listening notes
Released in 2016 by Bellevue Publishing, The Perfect Vinyl Collection (catalog number 02009-VB) is a various-artists box set spanning eight themed discs across sixteen sides of vinyl. The set is organized into discrete sections — Essential 80s, Sensational 70s, Best Of The 60s, Disco Fever, Soul Classics, Jazz Masters, Blues Masters, and Legends Of Rock & Roll — and its listed genres reflect that breadth: Blues, Disco, Electronic, Funk / Soul, Jazz, Pop, Rock, Rock & Roll, and Rockabilly.
The tracklist runs to well over one hundred titles. The 80s disc opens with familiar titles including "Total Eclipse Of The Heart," "Tainted Love," and "Flashdance.....What A Feeling," while the 70s sides reach into disco-adjacent and soul territory with entries such as "Young Hearts Run Free," "Rock Your Baby," and "Native New Yorker." The 60s section gathers a range of early-decade titles, among them "House Of The Risin' Sun," "Runaway," and "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do." The dedicated Disco Fever record includes "I Will Survive," "Disco Inferno," and "Ring My Bell." Soul Classics draws on a longer historical window, placing "When A Man Loves A Woman" and "Stand By Me" alongside "Always & Forever." The Jazz Masters sides move through standards and compositions including "'Round Midnight" and "Naima," while the Blues Masters record covers titles such as "Smokestack Lightning," "Hoochie Coochie Man," and "Boom Boom." The Legends Of Rock & Roll disc closes the set with "Rock Around The Clock," "Johnny B Goode," and "Jailhouse Rock," among others.
As a compiled, multi-genre box set issued by Bellevue Publishing, the release is intended as a broad survey across several decades and styles. Prospective buyers should note that no performer credits are confirmed in the available data, and the relationship of these recordings to their original artists has not been verified for this draft.
