The Vinyl Frontier

Listening notes

The Vinyl Frontier is a three-disc CD compilation released in 1997 on Sound Design (catalog number SOUN 23 CD). It falls within the electronic, hard house, and hard trance genres and presents its content across two distinct formats: studio tracks and live DJ sets.

The three discs are each anchored by a live recording from a named DJ at a named venue. Disc one is presented as Michael Sutra live at Bagleys in King's Cross; disc two as Tony Price live at Trinity, identified as The Chunnel; and disc three as Jon The Dentist live at Lakota in Bristol. These venue attributions are as listed on the release and have not been independently verified for this draft.

Across the three discs the compilation assembles a substantial number of tracks, totaling over forty individual titles when the numbered studio or studio-sourced selections are counted alongside the live set headers. Several entries carry remix credits that are part of their listed titles, including a Way Out West Mix, a Slacker Mix, two separate Hardfloor Mixes, two Tony De Vit Mixes, a Vincent De Moor Mix, two Jon The Dentist Mixes, an Ariel Mix, a Kinky Roland Mix, a Sharp Mix, a De Donatis Mix, and a Lectrolux Mix. These credits appear in the track titles as listed and do not confirm involvement beyond what the title text itself states.

No track durations are recorded in the available data. Personnel beyond the three named DJs and the remix credits embedded in track titles are not documented in the source information. The label designator for Sound Design is listed as 10.

This is an unreviewed draft. All details above should be confirmed against physical or authoritative source documentation before publication.
