This Is What The Universe Sounds Like - Vinyl Sampler 1

Listening notes

Released in 2009 on Universal Vibes, *This Is What The Universe Sounds Like - Vinyl Sampler 1* carries catalog number UV013 and presents three tracks across its two sides. The release sits within the deep house, electronic, and house genres, positioning it as part of a broader landscape of vinyl-format dance music that remained active during that period.

The A-side is occupied entirely by "The Feeling (Soulsonix Remix)," while the B-side is divided between "Here I Am" at B1 and "Standby (Soulsonix Remix)" at B2. The presence of two Soulsonix remixes across the record gives that contributor a notable share of the program, though no further personnel information is available to verify additional credits or the identities behind the original compositions.

The title's framing as a sampler — specifically "Vinyl Sampler 1" — suggests this was conceived as a promotional or introductory vehicle for the Universal Vibes label, potentially the first in a planned series, though no information is available here to confirm whether subsequent volumes were issued.

As a sampler, the release reflects a format common to independent and boutique dance music labels of its era, using vinyl as both a practical distribution medium and a signal of intent to a DJ-oriented audience. The three-track configuration, split between an A-side solo cut and a divided B-side, is consistent with standard twelve-inch sampler architecture.

Duration information for all three tracks is absent from available data, which limits any discussion of how the record is paced or weighted across its sides. What the catalog record does confirm is a release that is modest in scope, genre-focused, and tied specifically to the Universal Vibes imprint at a defined point in time.
