Turntables On The Hudson (Compilation Vol. 3 / Vinyl 1)

Listening notes

Turntables On The Hudson was a compilation series released on the RhythmLove label, and this vinyl — catalogued as RL 2005 — represents the first disc of Volume 3, issued in 2001. The four-track record spreads across two sides, positioning itself within the genres of downtempo, dub, and electronic music.

Side A opens with "Nature Loving Dub" before moving into "Shadow of a Bee," while Side B carries "Desert Dancer" and closes on "Night." The titles themselves suggest the kind of organic, atmospheric sensibility that the downtempo and dub genres frequently traffic in, though track durations are not documented here, leaving the full shape of the listening experience unspecified.

As the first vinyl in a multi-volume compilation, this release would have been one component of a larger curated set, a format that was a recognizable part of how electronic music communities in the early 2000s packaged and distributed genre-specific collections. RhythmLove, as the releasing label, chose to present this material across separate physical discs rather than a single consolidated release, a choice that speaks to the vinyl format's continued relevance in electronic music circles at that time.

Beyond the tracklist and genre classifications, the available documentation on this release is limited. Contributing artists, recording details, and personnel are not confirmed in the information at hand. Prospective contributors or researchers seeking to build out a fuller entry for this title would benefit from consulting physical sleeve notes or any surviving label documentation.
