Twisted! - The Best Of Twisted Vinyl Vol. 1

Listening notes

Released in 1995, Twisted! - The Best Of Twisted Vinyl Vol. 1 is a Various Artists compilation issued by Twisted Vinyl under catalog number TVCD 1. The release appears in CD format and sits across four genre categories as catalogued: Electronic, Gabber, Happy Hardcore, and Hardcore. The "Vol. 1" designation in the title indicates this was conceived as the first entry in a potential series drawing from the Twisted Vinyl catalog.

The compilation runs sixteen tracks with a total listed running time that can be calculated from the individual track durations provided. The sequence opens with "Techno Renegade (Davie Forbes Mix)" at 3:59 and closes with "Cologned" at 4:52. Several entries on the tracklist identify specific mix or remix credits within their titles. "Mental Floss" and "Bang To The Beat" are both credited to a Scott Brown Mix, while "Technophobia" is identified as a Power Mix and "Eliminator" as an Original Mix. "Hardcore Science" carries a Vince Watson Remix credit and is the longest track on the release at 6:18. "Techno Renegade" names Davie Forbes as the mix contributor.

Track durations across the set range from 3:18 for "Power Of Darkness" to 6:18 for "Hardcore Science (Vince Watson Remix)," with the majority of tracks falling between four and five minutes. Titles such as "Psychotic Mayhem," "Rise Of The Demon," "Burn Mother Fucker," and "Power Of Darkness" are consistent with naming conventions common within the harder electronic subgenres catalogued here during the mid-1990s.

This is an unreviewed draft. Personnel, label history, pressing details, and individual artist credits have not been verified beyond what appears in the tracklist titles themselves and should be confirmed before publication.
