Various
Vinyl Box Vol 6

Listening notes

Sound Exhibitions Records released Vinyl Box Vol. 6 in 2023 under catalog number SEB06. The sixth entry in the label's ongoing Vinyl Box series, this various artists compilation spans five records and eleven tracks, with a combined running time that places most individual selections in the five-to-seven-minute range.

The release draws from across the disco, electronic, funk, and house genres, with the label also categorizing it under funk and soul. That range of genre tags reflects a tracklist that moves between titles suggestive of different stylistic territory: "Pazarski Den (Chicago Bitdown)" on side 2A and "This Jazz (For Jorman)" on side 3A carry subtitles and dedications that distinguish them from the remaining tracks, while "Hammond Street Funk" closes the fifth record as the final of two selections on side 5B.

Running times across the set are relatively consistent. Seven of the eleven tracks exceed five and a half minutes, with "Pazarski Den (Chicago Bitdown)" and "Mayday Off" each clocking in at 6:36, the longest entries on the release. The shortest track is "Focus Funk" at 3:29, which opens side 5A.

The five-disc format places Vinyl Box Vol. 6 among the more substantial physical releases Sound Exhibitions Records has issued within the series. As with previous volumes, the compilation format aggregates work from multiple contributors under a single release, though individual artist credits are not reflected in the verified data available for this entry.
