Vinyl Charcuterie

Listening notes

Vinyl Charcuterie is a various-artists compilation released in 2022 on Stoffige Vingers under catalog number WL-005. The release appears on vinyl and draws from a range of genres including disco, electronic, funk and soul, new beat, and synth-pop.

The record contains six tracks spread across two sides. Side A opens with "Crazy Rhythm (Hysteric Edit)" at five minutes and one second, followed by "Looking Into The Future" at three minutes and ten seconds, and closes with "Why? (Instrumental)" at three minutes and thirty-two seconds. Side B begins with "Hole In The Middle (Hysteric Edit)" at five minutes and sixteen seconds, continues with "Can You Feel It" at three minutes and five seconds, and concludes with "Minuit Rendez-Vous" at three minutes and fifty-two seconds.

The tracklist includes two edits credited to "Hysteric," appearing on both the A and B sides. The presence of an instrumental version of "Why?" suggests that a vocal version of the track may exist, though no further detail on that point is available from the information at hand. The title "Minuit Rendez-Vous" introduces a French-language element that sits alongside the otherwise English track titles.

The compilation's genre spread — spanning new beat alongside disco, funk and soul, electronic, and synth-pop — places it across a fairly wide stylistic range. New beat, which emerged from the Belgian club scene in the late 1980s, is a relatively specific genre designation that may be of interest to collectors and researchers focused on that area.

The total runtime across all six tracks is approximately twenty-three minutes and fifty-six seconds, consistent with a standard single-LP release.
