Vinyl Films Records 10" Box

Listening notes

Released in 2015 on the Vinyl Films label, the Vinyl Films Records 10" Box (catalog number VFR-2015-1) is a various artists box set presented on 10" vinyl. The set spans a notably broad range of genres as listed — acoustic, ambient, electronic, experimental, indie rock, post rock, rock, score, and stage and screen — suggesting a compilation drawn from film and related musical contexts.

The box set is organized around several distinct groupings. "Duk Koo Kim" occupies sides A and B, running approximately 19 minutes in total across its two parts (10:35 and 9:15 respectively). The second record collects "Murderer" (3:05), "Silver Rider" (5:26), and "From Your Place On Sunset" (8:16) across sides C and D. Sides E and F are given to "Memorie dal Futuro," which includes the title piece at 9:40 and "Due Foglie, Una Candela: Il Soffio Del Vento" at 3:50. Sides G and H present "Pedals" and "Petals," running 9:27 and 9:12.

The fifth record, grouped under "Third and Seneca," features an alternate version of the title track at 7:41, followed by three shorter pieces — "Tomorrow Is Already Here," "Natural Light," and "I'll Be There" — on side J. The final record is labeled "Music For Film" and draws from two named film sources: material associated with Pearl Jam Twenty on side K, including "Be Like Water," "Be Like Wind," and "Corner Store," and material associated with We Bought a Zoo on side L, comprising "Last Medicine Dance," "Ashley Collective," and "Throwing Arrows."

The tracklist as documented contains no duration information for the grouping headers themselves, and some entries carry no position designations, indicating they function as section titles rather than discrete tracks.
