Vinyl Is Better 8

Listening notes

Vinyl Is Better 8 is a compilation released by Kniteforce Records in 2020 under catalog number KFCD32. Despite its title, the release appears in CD format, continuing what the numbering suggests is an ongoing series from the label. Kniteforce Records has long been associated with the harder end of UK electronic music, and this compilation draws from a range of related genres including breakbeat, electronic, happy hardcore, hardcore, and jungle.

The twelve-track program spans considerable stylistic ground within those genre boundaries. Track titles such as "Rage On The Streets," "E's In Overdrive," and "Goodbye Mr President" suggest material rooted in the energy and attitude characteristic of UK rave culture, while entries like "All Through The Night" and "A Million Miles (Empyreal Remix)" point toward melodic or atmospheric dimensions within the set. The inclusion of an explicitly labeled remix in the latter track, alongside "Drum & Bass Program (Unreleased Original Mix)," indicates the compilation draws on both previously circulating and previously unavailable material, at least in terms of what those subtitles claim.

The presence of an unreleased original mix as the closing track is notable from a documentation standpoint, as it suggests the compilation was positioned in part as an archival or collector-oriented release rather than a straightforward promotional overview. No track durations are documented in the available data, and individual artist credits per track are not confirmed here.

The various artists format is consistent with how Kniteforce has historically presented label catalogues and scene retrospectives. For collectors or researchers working through UK hardcore and jungle documentation, this release represents a data point in Kniteforce's output during 2020, a period when physical media releases of this kind carried additional significance given disruptions to live music.
