Vinyl Moon Volume 026: Nightshining

Listening notes

Vinyl Moon Volume 026, titled Nightshining, is a various-artists compilation released by the Vinyl Moon label in 2017. The release carries catalog number Volume 026 and spans genres including Alternative Rock, Ambient, Electronic, Indie Rock, and Rock.

The tracklist is structured across two sides, with the format suggesting a deliberate conceptual division. Side A is labeled "Night-" and opens with "Phantasmagoria Pt. 1," followed by "Why I Love," "Motions," and "Jubilee Green." Side B carries the designation "-Shining" and contains five tracks: "Sheep," "Nevada," "Brothers & Sisters," "Autumn In New Brunswick," and "Underwater." Together, the two side labels combine to form the compilation's full title, Nightshining, a structural choice that distributes the title itself across the physical object.

The genre spread — reaching from Ambient and Electronic to Indie Rock and Alternative Rock — reflects the kind of curatorial range that compilation formats make possible, assembling tracks that might not otherwise share a single release context. With nine numbered tracks across two sides and no durations listed in available documentation, the precise running time of the record is not confirmed here.

Vinyl Moon operated as a subscription-based label releasing monthly curated compilations on vinyl, and Volume 026 falls within that ongoing series. Beyond its placement as the twenty-sixth volume in that sequence and its 2017 release date, additional context about this specific installment — including artist credits for individual tracks, pressing details, and subscriber information — would require verification against primary sources before publication.
