Vinyl Moon Volume 037: Rebirth

Listening notes

Vinyl Moon Volume 037, subtitled Rebirth, is a various artists compilation released in 2018 on the Vinyl Moon label. It is the thirty-seventh volume in the label's ongoing vinyl compilation series and spans genres including electronic, indie pop, and pop.

The record is sequenced across two sides. The A side opens with "After Midnight" at three minutes and thirty-seven seconds and moves through six tracks in total, including "Tennessee," "Let's Get It," "Cherry Blossom Oak," "Fun & Levitating," and "Serve Somebody," closing the side at three minutes and twenty-six seconds. The B side carries five tracks, beginning with the brief "Hollow" at two minutes and fourteen seconds before expanding into the compilation's longest selection, "If Only I," which runs five minutes and fourteen seconds. The side continues with "Ljuva Mekaniska Jag," "Pale And Blue," and closes on "Schlieffen Plan" at four minutes and thirty-five seconds.

The eleven tracks span a combined runtime that reflects a varied approach to pacing, with the B side weighted toward longer individual pieces relative to the A side. The subtitle Rebirth is the sole editorial framing provided by the label for this volume, as is consistent with Vinyl Moon's practice of assigning thematic titles to entries in the series.
