Vinyl Moon Volume 037: Rebirth

Listening notes

Vinyl Moon Volume 037, subtitled Rebirth, appeared in 2018 as part of the label's ongoing series of curated vinyl compilations. Vinyl Moon operates as a subscription-based service built around the concept of introducing listeners to emerging and independent artists through physical releases, and this volume fits within that framework.

The record collects eleven tracks across two sides, drawing from electronic, indie pop, and pop genres. Side A opens with "After Midnight" and moves through "Tennessee," "Let's Get It," "Cherry Blossom Oak," "Fun & Levitating," and "Serve Somebody." Side B carries "Hollow," "If Only I," "Ljuva Mekaniska Jag," "Pale And Blue," and closes with "Schlieffen Plan." The Swedish-language title "Ljuva Mekaniska Jag" stands out as a notable outlier in an otherwise English-language sequence, suggesting at least some international reach in the curation for this volume.

The subtitle Rebirth is the kind of thematic framing Vinyl Moon has consistently applied to its volumes, giving each release an identity beyond a simple track listing. Whether that theme maps meaningfully onto the eleven selections here is something a listener would need to judge directly. What can be noted is that the spread of genres listed — electronic, indie pop, and pop — points to a program with some internal variety rather than a single-minded stylistic focus.

No artist credits, track durations, or personnel information are documented in the available record for this volume, which limits how much can be said with confidence about individual contributions. Researchers or collectors seeking that detail would need to consult the original release materials directly.

As the thirty-seventh entry in a numbered series, this volume exists as one chapter in a larger ongoing project rather than a standalone statement, and its significance is likely best understood in that context.
