Vinyl Moon Volume 040: Gap The Mind

Listening notes

Vinyl Moon Volume 040, subtitled Gap The Mind, arrived in 2018 as the fortieth installment in the label's ongoing series of curated vinyl compilations. Vinyl Moon operates as a subscription-based service built around the premise of introducing listeners to emerging and independent artists through physical releases, and this volume continues that format with eleven tracks spread across two sides.

The A-side opens with "Monks" and moves through "WaWaNe," "You've Been My Girl," "Limit," and "Agalia," offering five tracks before the record flips. The B-side carries six selections: "The Paisley Agreement," "Giant Leaves," "Animals," "Move Electric," "Soquel," and "Make Things Better," giving the second side a slightly longer running sequence than the first.

The genres associated with this volume span electronic, indie pop, indie rock, pop, and rock, reflecting the eclectic approach that has characterized the Vinyl Moon series broadly. Rather than anchoring itself to a single sound, the compilation moves across stylistic ground, which is consistent with the series' curatorial identity of gathering disparate artists under a single themed release.

As with other volumes in the series, individual track durations are not listed in available documentation, so the total runtime cannot be confirmed here. Artist credits for each track are similarly absent from the verified data at hand and should be confirmed before publication.

Gap The Mind represents a midpoint milestone of sorts within the series, arriving as the fortieth volume. Whether that number carries any deliberate editorial weight in its selection or sequencing is not confirmed by available information and should not be assumed.

This draft requires artist attribution for each track and duration information before it can be considered complete. A fact checker should verify all personnel and confirm no additional pressing variants or release details have been omitted.
