Vinyl Moon Volume 061: Before You Melt

Listening notes

Vinyl Moon Volume 061, subtitled Before You Melt, is a 2020 various artists compilation released by the subscription-based label Vinyl Moon. It carries the catalog designation Volume 061, placing it within the label's ongoing numbered series of curated vinyl releases.

The record is formatted as a standard vinyl LP and is classified under the electro and electronic genres. The tracklist is divided evenly across two sides, with five tracks on each. Side A opens with "Low Angles" and continues through "LYFE," "Routine," "New Horizons," and "Dream Spectrum." Side B leads with "In The City," followed by "Melt" — the title that appears to inform the release's full name — and then "September In London," "Fantasia," and "Twenty."

Vinyl Moon operates as a monthly subscription service built around the compilation format, releasing curated collections of contemporary music pressed to vinyl. Volume 061 sits within that ongoing framework, representing the label's sixty-first installment in the series. The electro and electronic categorization reflects the genre territory the compilation draws from, though individual track durations are not confirmed in available documentation.

As with other entries in the Vinyl Moon catalog, Before You Melt brings together multiple artists under a single themed release rather than presenting the work of a single performer. The compilation format has historically served as a vehicle for introducing listeners to a range of artists within a shared sonic space, and the Vinyl Moon model applies that approach through a subscription structure tied specifically to vinyl as a medium.
