Vinyl Moon Volume 090: The Shimmer Below

Listening notes

Vinyl Moon Volume 090, titled The Shimmer Below, is a 2023 various artists compilation released on the Vinyl Moon label. Catalogued as Volume 090 in the label's ongoing series, the release spans genres including alt-pop, electronic, indie pop, and pop across a standard two-sided vinyl format.

The ten-track sequence opens Side A with "Arnofio," followed by "Obsydiana," "Skepna," "Ride, Ride," and "Backwaters." Side B carries the compilation forward with "Z," "Slowly," "Solace," "Eraser," and "East Esplanade." Track durations are not available in the current record.

Vinyl Moon operates as a subscription-based label built around monthly curated compilations, and Volume 090 represents one entry in that continuing series. The title The Shimmer Below and the volume number together place this release within a catalog that had, by the time of this pressing, accumulated nearly ninety prior volumes, suggesting a label with a sustained output since its founding.

The genre spread documented for this release — alt-pop, electronic, indie pop, and pop — points to a compilation that draws from adjacent but distinct corners of contemporary popular music, consistent with the curatorial approach that subscription compilation labels typically employ. Beyond that, the verified facts on hand do not support claims about individual contributing artists, specific sonic character, production credits, or the circumstances surrounding the title.

This draft is unreviewed and should be checked against the label's own documentation for contributor credits, pressing details, and any additional release information before publication.
