Vinyl Only Tools Vol 2

Listening notes

Released in 2015 on Innocent Music, Vinyl Only Tools Vol 2 carries the catalog number IMV 003 and, as its title suggests, was issued exclusively on vinyl. The compilation brings together four tracks spread across two sides, each identified by number rather than name: 009 and 010 occupy the A side, while 011 and 012 fill the B side. The four tracks run 8:01, 6:56, 7:32, and 6:56 respectively, giving the record a total runtime of just under thirty minutes.

The release sits at the intersection of several related electronic genres — dub techno, minimal techno, and techno more broadly — a cluster of styles that tend to prioritize function and atmosphere over conventional song structures. The numbered track titles and the format-exclusive release strategy are consistent with an approach common to utilitarian DJ tool records, where anonymity and purpose take precedence over branding. The catalog number IMV 003 places this volume as the third release on the Innocent Music imprint.

The tracklist credits are listed to Various, which is all that can be confirmed here. Collectors and DJs researching this record should verify personnel and any additional pressing information through primary sources before drawing further conclusions.
