Vinyl Pusher Addictions

Listening notes

Vinyl Pusher Addictions (catalog number VPR010) was released in 2005 on Vinyl Pusher Records as a two-disc CD compilation sitting within the deep house, electronic, and house genres. The set is organized around two separate discs, each attributed to a different mixer or curator: Disc One is credited to Andrew Padula, and Disc Two to Alex Taylor.

Padula's disc runs to sixteen tracks across approximately one hour and nineteen minutes of programmed material. The selection draws on a range of remixed and original cuts, including "Give It Back" in a Putsch 79 Lectro Remix, a Silver City Remix of "Feeling Blue," a Tom Novy vs. Eniac Remix of "Let's Rock," and Armand Van Helden's Club Mix of "Je Suis Music." Tracks range from the comparatively brief "Musique" at three minutes and fifteen seconds to the seven-and-a-half-minute "Closer To Me," offering some variation in pacing across the disc.

Alex Taylor's Disc Two also contains sixteen tracks and runs to roughly one hour and twenty-three minutes. Its tracklist includes contributions bearing remix credits from Ivan Gough and Grant Smillie on "Been Good," a Riffs and Rays Extended Mix of "Nasty Girl," Tom Neville's Crazy Leg's Remix of "I See Girls," a Groovehunter Slammin' Remix of "Flashback," and Mutiny's Real Life Mix of "He Not In." The disc closes with "Fucky Funky Music" at three minutes and twenty-seven seconds.

Taken together, the release documents a snapshot of the Vinyl Pusher Records roster and associated remixers as they stood in 2005. Researchers and cataloguers should verify all personnel attributions, remix credits, and running times independently before publication.
