Vinyl Verdict

Listening notes

Vinyl Verdict is a various artists compilation released in 1981 on Scoff Records (2) under the catalog number DTLP 006. The record is a twelve-track vinyl LP spanning genres listed on the release as Electronic, New Wave, Power Pop, Punk, and Rock, reflecting the breadth of sounds that circulated in the independent and alternative music landscape at the turn of the decade.

Side A opens with "I Will" and moves through "Picture Postcard," "When You're Dancing," "New City Blues," "Work Of Children," and "Take A Chance." Side B carries six further tracks: "In Too Deep," "Convoy," "Zealano," "Baby Left Me," "President," and "Liar." Track durations are not documented in the available source data.

The release carries the Scoff Records (2) imprint, the parenthetical designation distinguishing this label entity from others sharing a similar name in discographic records. The catalog number DTLP 006 places this title as the sixth long-player in that sequence, though what preceded or followed it in the Scoff Records (2) catalog is beyond the scope of the verified information available here.

Compilations of this kind, issued on smaller independent labels in the early 1980s, frequently served as snapshots of regional or scene-specific activity, though no specific claims about the geographic origin or curatorial intent of Vinyl Verdict can be confirmed from the data on hand. Artist and band credits for individual tracks are not present in the verified facts and have accordingly been omitted.
