Various
Virus 14 - The Official Vinyl Release

Listening notes

Released in 2004 on Danger Hardcore Tracks, catalog number DHT 7025, "Virus 14 - The Official Vinyl Release" is a four-track various artists record operating within the electronic, gabber, and hardcore genres. The release presents itself as the official vinyl edition of Virus 14, a framing that places the format front and center as a deliberate artifact rather than an incidental one.

The record's two sides divide the runtime across four tracks. The A-side opens with "The Fuck Outha Here" at five minutes and fifteen seconds, followed by the comparatively tighter "Hardcore" at four minutes and eighteen seconds. The B-side leads with "Heaven" at four minutes and thirty-seven seconds before closing on "Break This Disc (Terror Cut)," a notably brief cut at two minutes and seven seconds. The title of that final track carries an ironic charge on a vinyl release, though whether that irony is intentional remains a matter for the listener to consider.

Gabber and hardcore are genres with a well-documented relationship to both club culture and physical formats, and Danger Hardcore Tracks operated within that ecosystem as a label. The explicit designation of this pressing as the "official" vinyl release suggests the material may have had prior circulation in another form, though the verified information here does not confirm that detail. It is worth noting for the fact checker.

At roughly sixteen minutes of total runtime across four tracks, the release sits at a compact length typical of genre-specific twelve-inch releases of the period. The catalog number DHT 7025 places it within the Danger Hardcore Tracks numbering sequence, useful context for collectors researching the label's output chronologically.
