ZYX Italo Disco New Generation Vinyl Edition Vol.4

Listening notes

Released in 2022 on ZYX Music, ZYX Italo Disco New Generation Vinyl Edition Vol. 4 (catalog number ZYX 55934-1) is the fourth installment in the label's ongoing series presenting italo disco material on vinyl. The release brings together eight tracks spread across two sides, drawing from the electronic, euro-disco, italo-disco, pop, and synth-pop genres that define the series' scope.

The tracklist leans heavily on extended and remixed versions rather than original single edits. Flemming Dalum contributes remixes to three of the eight tracks: "Always," "I Wanna Tokyo'u," and "Orient Express." The remaining tracks appear in extended or specially designated versions, including a "Special ZYX Remix" of "Don't Take Your Time" and an "Also Playable Mono Remix" of "Don't Be Afraid," the latter running at seven minutes and thirty seconds, making it the longest track on the record.

Side A opens with the Flemming Dalum Remix of "Always" at four minutes and twenty-six seconds and closes with "Midnight Love (Extended Version)" at six minutes and twenty-two seconds. The longest track on Side A is "I Wanna Tokyo'u (Flemming Dalum Remix)" at six minutes and forty-one seconds. Side B opens with "You And I (Extended Version)" and runs through to "Orient Express (Flemming Dalum Remix)" at five minutes and forty seconds.

The total runtime across both sides reflects the series' preference for longer, floor-oriented versions of its selected material, with most tracks exceeding five minutes. As a various artists compilation, no individual performer credits are confirmed in the available documentation. Prospective buyers and researchers should consult the physical sleeve and label for full personnel and licensing details not captured here.
