Vinyl Junkie & D'State
Tour Of Duty

Listening notes

Released in 2005 on Warehouse Wax, "Tour Of Duty" is a two-sided vinyl single from Vinyl Junkie and D'State, catalogued as WAX 006. The release sits within the breakbeat, breaks, electronic, and hardcore genres, placing it among the club-focused output that characterized a particular strand of UK dance music during that period.

The record presents two versions of the same composition across its A and AA sides. The A side carries the Baobinga Mix, bringing in an outside perspective on the source material, while the AA side presents the Original Mix, offering the track in its foundational form. The inclusion of both a remix and an original on a single release was a common approach within this genre space, giving DJs and collectors two distinct takes to work with.

Warehouse Wax, as the issuing label, provides the institutional context for the release, with WAX 006 indicating that this title arrived relatively early within the label's catalogue sequence. Beyond what the catalogue number suggests about its position in the label's output, the specific history of Warehouse Wax is not detailed here.

As a vinyl-only release, "Tour Of Duty" is a product squarely aimed at the format's audience, consistent with the practices of labels operating within breakbeat and related electronic genres at the time, where the twelve-inch single remained a primary vehicle for distribution and DJ use.
