The World Of Vinylgroover Part 2

Listening notes

Released in 2000 on Highborn Records (catalog number GHB 1073), The World Of Vinylgroover Part 2 is a CD compilation operating within the electronic, happy hardcore, and hardcore genres. The release follows the implied existence of a first volume, situating it as part of an ongoing series built around the Vinylgroover name.

The disc collects fifteen tracks with a combined runtime that runs well past the one-hour mark. The sequencing moves from "Need Your Lovin'" at five minutes and two seconds through to the closing "Rainbows" at three minutes and eighteen seconds, with the longest piece on the record being the penultimate "Alpha Century," which extends to six minutes and fourteen seconds. The briefest entry is "Cold As Ice," clocking in at two minutes and twenty-seven seconds.

Several track titles are credited with specific mix designations. "Take It From The Groove" carries a Vinylgroover Remix credit, "More Lovin" is identified as the Vinylgroover Mix, and "Time" is attributed to a DJ Storm Mix. These credits indicate that the compilation draws on material that existed in multiple versions, with particular edits selected for inclusion here.

Titles such as "The Rave Theme," "Four AM," "Happiness," and "The Realm" reflect the vocabulary common to late-1990s and early-2000s British happy hardcore, a scene that Vinylgroover was active within during this period. "40 Miles" and "Ray Of Light" appear alongside more abstract titles like "Vol. 2" and "Alpha Century," giving the tracklist a range of reference points across its fifteen entries.
