Volksweerbaarheid
Groeven In Zwart Vinyl

Listening notes

Volksweerbaarheid's "Groeven In Zwart Vinyl" was released in 2003 on Hau Ruck!, the label operating under catalog number HR!60. The release is catalogued under the electronic and neofolk genres, and it arrives in vinyl format — a fact the title itself makes literal, "Groeven In Zwart Vinyl" translating from Dutch as "Grooves in Black Vinyl."

The record is structured across two sides, each carrying four tracks. Side A opens with "Voorwaar, Voorwaarts!" at three minutes and twenty-four seconds, followed by "Geen Bastions Maar Bataljons," the longest track on the record at four minutes and fifty-two seconds. "Uw Wet Is Mijn Wil [Ode Aan Vrouwe B.]" closes in at an even five minutes, and Side A concludes with a live recording of the self-titled track "Volksweerbaarheid," running just over two minutes.

Side B begins with "Imperator Futurismo Uno" at two minutes and twenty-four seconds — the shortest track across both sides — before moving into "Een Duits Dienstmeisje" at three minutes and thirty-four seconds. "Verschroeide Aarde" and the closing live track "Geen Defaitisme!" both run three minutes and fourteen seconds, giving Side B a notably more uniform pacing than Side A.

The inclusion of two live recordings, one per side, is a structural detail worth noting for anyone cataloguing the release. The tracklist otherwise consists of studio material, and the Dutch-language titles throughout are consistent with the act's broader identity as a Dutch-language project working within a genre space that frequently gravitates toward German or English.

Hau Ruck! was an imprint associated with the industrial and neofolk underground during this period, and HR!60 places this release at a substantial point in the label's catalog numbering. Beyond these documented details, further claims about the release would require verification from sources not represented here.
