Whitehouse
Thank Your Lucky Stars (Special Vinyl Edition)

Listening notes

Whitehouse's Thank Your Lucky Stars (Special Vinyl Edition) was released in 2018 on Dirter Promotions under catalog number DPROMDLP135. The release sits within the electronic, industrial, and power electronics genres.

The edition spans a double LP format, with its eight tracks distributed across four sides. Side A opens with "Hungry For Pain" at six minutes and forty-three seconds, followed by the title track "Thank Your Lucky Stars" at five minutes and twenty-seven seconds. Side B carries "Try And Be Grateful" at four minutes and forty-six seconds and "My Cock's On Fire (New Version)" at four minutes and twenty-nine seconds. Side C contains three tracks: "Neronia" at five minutes and fifteen seconds, "Sadist" at six minutes and ten seconds, and "Still Going Strong" at four minutes even. Side D is given over entirely to a single track, "My Cock's On Fire (Long Version)," running thirteen minutes and thirty-six seconds.

The presence of two versions of "My Cock's On Fire" is a structural point of note for collectors considering this edition. The new version on Side B runs just under four and a half minutes, while the long version occupying the entirety of Side D more than triples that runtime. The decision to dedicate a full LP side to a single extended piece is a distinguishing organizational feature of this particular release, and prospective buyers should be aware of how that shapes the overall runtime and side sequencing.

The album's total runtime across all eight tracks amounts to approximately fifty minutes and twenty-six seconds. Issued by Dirter Promotions, the label responsible for this vinyl edition, the release represents a physical format presentation of material from an act with a documented place in the power electronics genre's history.
