X-Ray Pop
Best Of Vinyl

Listening notes

X-Ray Pop's Best Of Vinyl was released in 1988 on Hypertonia World Enterprises, carrying the catalog number HWE 029. Despite its title, the release appeared in cassette format rather than on vinyl. It spans twenty-one tracks across two sides, placing it among the more substantial compilations the label issued that year.

The tracklist draws from a range of material associated with X-Ray Pop, a act whose recorded output has been catalogued across genres including electronic, experimental, indie rock, pop, pop rock, rock, and synth-pop. That breadth of genre classification reflects the difficulty of placing the group within a single stylistic category, though the specific relationship between those genre tags and the individual tracks collected here is not documented in the available release data.

Side A opens with "Pam Pam" and runs through ten tracks, closing with "Non Mais." Several titles carry a distinctly French-language character — "Bulle De Sang," "Louche," "Petit Animal," "À L'idée," and "Omoui J'aime!" among them — suggesting a francophone orientation to at least part of the group's output. Side B contains eleven tracks, beginning with "Cosmofuzz Ballroom" and concluding with "Chapeau Volant," and continues to mix French-language titles such as "Bateau Cellulose," "Mes Beautés," and "L'Eurasienne" alongside others including "El Gato" and "Moska."

Track durations are not listed in the available documentation, and personnel, recording dates, and original release sources for the compiled material are not confirmed in the data at hand. Researchers and collectors seeking additional context around the individual tracks or the group's broader discography will need to consult primary sources beyond this release entry. The catalog number HWE 029 situates Best Of Vinyl within Hypertonia World Enterprises' documented output, though the label's full catalog has not been cross-referenced here.
