Yello
40 Years - Bostich - Reborn In Vinyl

Listening notes

Released in 2020 on Universal Music, Yello's "40 Years - Bostich - Reborn In Vinyl" is a four-track vinyl release catalogued under 04019589050319. The release sits at the intersection of the electro, electronic, and pop genres that have long defined Yello's recorded output, and its title frames it explicitly as both an anniversary marker and a vinyl-focused presentation of material associated with the Swiss duo.

The record is organized across two sides, each carrying two tracks. Side A opens with "Bostich (N'est-ce Pas)" at four minutes and thirty-six seconds, followed by "Bimbo" at three minutes and thirty-six seconds. Side B leads with "Bananas To The Beat," the release's shortest entry at two minutes and fifty-eight seconds, before closing on "Daily Disco" at four minutes and thirty seconds. The sequencing keeps both sides roughly comparable in running time, with Side A totaling just over eight minutes and Side B running just under seven and a half.

The title's reference to forty years places the release in a historical context tied to Yello's origins, and the phrase "Reborn In Vinyl" signals that the presentation of this material on the format is itself part of the release's stated purpose. The inclusion of "Bostich" in the title is notable given that track's longstanding association with the group, though the version here carries the parenthetical "N'est-ce Pas," distinguishing it from other iterations of the title in the group's catalog.

As a Universal Music release, the record falls under a major label infrastructure for a project that otherwise carries the character of a catalog-oriented or commemorative edition. The genre classifications spanning electro, electronic, and pop reflect the broad stylistic territory Yello has occupied across their discography.
