Listening notes

Yellow Magic Orchestra's Solid State Survivor: Collector's Vinyl Edition was issued on the Alfa label in 2018 under catalog number MHJL 57~58. The release presents the album across two records, with its eight tracks distributed over four sides.

Side A opens with "Technopolis" at four minutes and fourteen seconds, followed by "Absolute Ego Dance" at four minutes and thirty-eight seconds. Side B carries "Rydeen" at four minutes and twenty-six seconds and "Castalia" at three minutes and thirty seconds. The second record begins with "Behind The Mask" on Side C at three minutes and thirty-five seconds, then "Day Tripper" at two minutes and thirty-nine seconds. Side D closes the set with "Insomnia" at four minutes and fifty-seven seconds and the title track "Solid State Survivor" at three minutes and fifty-five seconds.

The genres associated with this release are listed as electro, electronic, and synth-pop. The double-LP format spreads a total runtime that runs just under thirty-three minutes across four sides, a configuration that gives each side a relatively brief playing time compared to what a standard single LP might carry.

The catalog number MHJL 57~58 reflects the two-disc nature of the edition, with each number corresponding to one of the records. The Alfa label, the original Japanese home of Yellow Magic Orchestra's catalog, is credited as the issuing label for this 2018 pressing.
