Yellow Magic Orchestra
Yellow Magic Orchestra: Collector's Vinyl Edition

Listening notes

Yellow Magic Orchestra's self-titled debut exists in numerous editions across different markets and decades, and the 2018 release on Great Tracks (2) — catalogued as MHJL 51~52 — represents one of the more recent vinyl presentations of this material. Designated a Collector's Vinyl Edition, the release spreads the album's ten tracks across two records, occupying four sides in a double-LP configuration.

The tracklist follows the structure familiar from the original album. Side A opens with "Computer Game 'Theme From The Circus'" and moves into "Firecracker," while Side B carries "Simoon," "Cosmic Surfin'," and "Computer Game 'Theme From The Invader.'" The second record places "Tong Poo" and "La Femme Chinoise" on Side C, with Side D closing out the set through "Bridge Over Troubled Music," "Mad Pierrot," and "Acrobat."

The genres assigned to this release — Electro, Electronic, and Synth-pop — reflect the broad categorical terms that have long been applied to Yellow Magic Orchestra's work, though how any individual pressing is classified can vary across databases and retailers.

The label credited here is Great Tracks (2), a designation that may indicate a sublabel or a distinct entity from any similarly named imprint, and prospective buyers or researchers should verify this distinction through reliable discographic sources. The catalog number MHJL 51~52 suggests a paired numbering convention consistent with double-album releases.

No track durations are available in the verified data for this edition. Anyone researching this specific pressing for collecting, archival, or comparative purposes should consult primary sources — including the physical release itself — before drawing conclusions about its specifications or relationship to other editions of this recording.
