Yellow Magic Orchestra
Yellow Magic Orchestra: Standard Vinyl Edition

Listening notes

Yellow Magic Orchestra's self-titled debut appears here in a 2018 vinyl edition issued by Great Tracks (2) under catalog number MHJL 53. The release carries genres of Electro, Electronic, and Synth-pop, and presents the album across two sides in the same ten-track sequence that has defined the standard configuration of this record.

Side A opens with "Computer Game 'Theme From The Circus'" before moving into "Firecracker," "Simoon," and "Cosmic Surfin'." The side closes with "Computer Game 'Theme From The Invader,'" a companion piece to the opening track that gives Side A a loose sense of symmetry through its shared Computer Game framing. Side B leads with "Tong Poo" and continues through "La Femme Chinoise," "Bridge Over Troubled Music," "Mad Pierrot," and "Acrobat."

No track durations are documented for this pressing. The release does not carry a country of manufacture in the verified data, and personnel, production credits, and matrix information are not confirmed for this specific edition.

For collectors and researchers working from catalog records, the combination of label name, label variant designation — Great Tracks (2) — and catalog number MHJL 53 serves as the practical identifying information for this pressing. The 2018 date distinguishes it from earlier issues of the same album and places it within a period of renewed international interest in reissuing catalog titles on vinyl, though any characterization of this edition's specific context within that market would go beyond what the available documentation confirms.
