Zodiac Childs
Atoms To Atoms

Listening notes

Zodiac Childs is an artist operating on Zodiac Wax, a label whose catalog number sequence places this release — ZW005 — as the fifth entry in that imprint's output. Released in 2021, Atoms To Atoms arrives on vinyl and spans twelve tracks distributed across six sides, indicating a triple LP configuration.

The record draws from a range of electronic music styles. Acid, ambient, breakbeat, and techno are all listed as genre descriptors, a combination that suggests considerable breadth within a single project, though the precise relationship between those styles across the program is a matter for the listener to determine. Track titles across the six sides — Submersion, Circuits, Basic Process, The Gevil, Kepler Track Two, O To The M (Conspiracy Mix), Breach, Goblin, Champion Rush, Critical Sign, Northern Fury, and Channels — offer a varied vocabulary, moving between the industrial and the astronomical, the abstract and the direct. The parenthetical on O To The M identifies it specifically as a Conspiracy Mix, distinguishing it from any alternate version that may exist elsewhere, though no additional context for that designation is available here.

The triple LP format itself is a practical fact worth noting for prospective collectors. Six sides means the listening experience is necessarily segmented, requiring more active engagement with the physical object than a single disc would demand. At twelve tracks with no durations listed in the available documentation, the distribution of material across sides is not something that can be assessed here.

Zodiac Wax as a label and Zodiac Childs as an artist share a nominal connection that may indicate an artist-run or closely affiliated imprint, though this cannot be confirmed from the facts at hand and is noted only as an observable detail. This draft should be reviewed against additional documentation before publication.
