Darling West
Vinyl And A Heartache

Listening notes

Darling West's Vinyl And A Heartache was released in 2016 on Vestkyst Records, carrying catalog number VEST-46. The album is categorized under country, folk, and Nordic genres, placing the Norwegian act within a broader folk and world music context.

The record is a standard vinyl LP, divided across two sides. The A side opens with "Dover" and continues through "The Sweetest Tune," "15 Isolation Row," the title track "Vinyl And A Heartache," and "Someone Like You." The B side carries five tracks of its own: "The Chain," "12th And Porter," "A Nobody's Song," and "No More." That gives the album a total of nine tracks across both sides.

The title itself is worth noting for a vinyl reference context. Naming an album Vinyl And A Heartache, and then releasing it on the format it references, is a straightforward but deliberate pairing. Whether that reflects something about the band's relationship to the medium or simply functions as a title is not something the available facts confirm.

Track durations are not on record here, so the overall runtime of the LP cannot be stated. Pressing details, matrix information, and whether multiple pressings exist are likewise outside the scope of what can be verified from the available data.

Vestkyst Records, the releasing label, is a Norwegian imprint. The catalog number VEST-46 places this release at a specific point in the label's output, though what surrounds it in that sequence is not documented here.
