Listening notes
Released in 2019 on MCA Nashville, George Strait's Strait Out Of The Box - Vinyl Collection is a box set edition within the country genre, spread across ten volumes of vinyl. The set draws from what the tracklist reveals to be a wide span of Strait's recorded catalog, assembling titles that will be familiar to anyone who has followed his career on MCA Nashville.
The ten volumes together account for a substantial number of individual titles. Early volumes include tracks such as "Unwound," "Fool Hearted Memory," "Amarillo By Morning," "Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind," and "Ocean Front Property." Later volumes move into titles including "Love Without End, Amen," "I Cross My Heart," "Carried Away," "Carrying Your Love With Me," "Troubadour," and "I Saw God Today," among many others. The tracklist also documents several collaborative recordings: "Six Pack To Go" with Hank Thompson appears on Volume 3, "Big Ball's In Cowtown" with Asleep At The Wheel and "Fly Me To The Moon" with Frank Sinatra appear on Volume 5.
Volume 10 closes the set with a comparatively short side count, ending on "You Gotta Go Through Hell." Notably, the title "I Just Can't Go On Dying Like This" appears as the opening track of both Volume 1 and Volume 10, which fact checkers may wish to verify against source materials.
No catalog number is listed for this release. Collectors and researchers should confirm all details independently before treating this draft as a complete or authoritative record.
