Hak Baker
Misfits EP + Misfits Unplugged super lad LTD Edition 12" Vinyl

Listening notes

Released in 2019 on Hak Baker's own Hak Attack Records, the Misfits EP + Misfits Unplugged super lad LTD Edition 12" vinyl (catalog number HAK0077) brings together thirteen tracks across two sides, catalogued under the Folk, World, & Country genres.

Side A presents the six tracks that make up the Misfits EP proper: "Quasar" (2:44), "Misfits" (4:51), "Conundrum" (2:39), "Like It or Lump It" (4:02), "Tom" (4:52), and "7am" (5:29), giving the side a combined running time of just over twenty-four minutes. Side B is given over entirely to the Misfits Unplugged portion of the release, offering acoustic counterparts to five of the six EP tracks — "Quasar," "Misfits," "Conundrum," "Tom," and "7am" — alongside what appears to be an untitled or identically titled version of "Like It or Lump It" at position B4. The side closes with a bonus track, "Dopehead - Unplugged," at 4:09, bringing the total to thirteen tracks across the record.

The pairing of the standard EP with its unplugged equivalent on a single 12" pressing gives the release a structural duality that is straightforward to describe on its own terms: listeners receive each of the core compositions twice, in differing arrangements, with the bonus "Dopehead" appearing exclusively on the unplugged side. The release was issued under the artist's self-administered label, Hak Attack Records, suggesting an independent release outside of major or established independent distribution structures, though no further detail about the release's availability or edition size is confirmed by the available data.
